There is nothing better than waking up on a Sunday morning, when the sun is shining, having made plans to go out for brunch. London has many a brunch hot spot but one not to be missed is The Riding House Cafe. It’s hidden a few roads back from Oxford Street.
We were up and feeling fresh the morning after my sister’s hen do. We marched determinedly towards the prospect of food.
The decor is, for want of a better word, kitch. It’s got that shabby-chic vibe of mismatched chairs and worn wood. It works well in the open plan, airy space it inhabits. This creates a light, welcoming and relaxed atmosphere that is a perfect setting for ladies that brunch.
It took us a long time to narrow down our options as they offer an extensive and very tempting looking menu.
In lieu of yelling “bring one of EVERYTHING”, 3 of us eventually settled on the Chorizo Hash Brown. It did not disappoint. Look at this beauty of a dish…
Louise opted for a healthier option of avocado and poached egg on toast.
Whilst Mum took a punt on the kedgeree. I like a kedgeree as much as the next guy but I can never persuade myself that fish is the first thing I should eat in the morning. It did look damn tasty though.
You may recall I’m not a tea or coffee drinker. Whilst they offer a range of fancy blended juices and smoothies which I’m sure are delicious, sometimes a girl just need a straight up apple juice. Know what I mean?
Lets get real for a minute. London is expensive and The Riding House Cafe is definitely no exception to that rule. Its not somewhere I’ll be going on a regular basis because of that fact. However, if you’ve got a special occasion to celebrate or fancy treating yourself then I’d definitely give this egg-cellent place a try!
