Rachel’s Favourite Things: Winter 2014 Edition
I am a big fan of monthly favourite posts whether it be blogs or YouTube videos. I like getting suggestions of new products, new books to read, new series to watch on Netflix. I don’t actually get round to using or trying enough new things to warrant a monthly post on the topic but recently I have found myself a little stash of goodies that have made me smile so I thought I would share them with you because, lets face it, with the daylight hours getting shorter, we could all do with a little pick me up. So without further ado, here are my current winter favourites:
This little sparkly delight has the ability to revert me back to the mental age of about five. I wrote my name in sparkles!
Starbucks Signature Hot Chocolate with Hazelnut
This warms my soul as well as my tummy.
The List of My Desires by Grégoire Delacourt
This book is simple and heartbreakingly beautiful. To describe to someone else you might say its about a middle aged woman with an average life who wins the lottery. In reality it is so much more than that. It is about happiness, gratitude, dreams, contentment and realise that what others may views a mediocrity may be perfect in your eyes.
This book reminded me to appreciate what I have in my life.
I discovered this band at Reading Festival and since then I can’t stop listening to them. I went to see them again at Oslo in Hackney last week and they impressed me all over again. Definitely give them a listen: https://www.youtube.com/user/flytebanduk
I know I’m totally cool for including a card game in my favourites, you don’t have to tell me but this is not just a card game! The goal constantly changes and you have to use tactics and and cunning to win. Not only that but there are different versions including Zombie Fluxx, Star Fluxx, Pirate Fluxx (including a rule that means you have to talk like a pirate!), and so many more, you can even build your own!
So there you have it, a few things that have been putting a smile on my face recently.
What are a few of your favourite winter things?
