Rachel on the Road: Portugal Edition Part 2

Our week the in Algarve continued with plenty of sunshine. We all started changing to various shades of brown and red). We took in turns in pairs each evening to cook for the group. On our night me and James rustled up a combo of paella and sangria that turned out pretty good!

Just round the corner from our villa was a useful little bar called Scooby’s. It was awfully touristy and tackily British but it had WiFi, a pool table and cocktails for 3 euros a piece and as such became our local drinking hole.

One night we headed out to “the Strip” thinking we’d find some dinner and more energetic night-life. What we found however was just a long line of noisy, cheap looking and tacky English bar and restaurants. We stuck it out for dinner and had a distinctly average meal, at least the company was good!

Back to the tranquillity of the villa after our disappointing evening we got back to the important business of sunbathing.

Being on holiday with two couples, they obviously wanted some time to do coupley datey type things. The remaining four of us decided to embrace singles night with many many cocktails.

Back at Scooby’s we also had a great game of crazy golf, which somehow I managed to win. I must admit however this was more through fluke than actual skill!

That night dinner was to be a BBQ. Which can only mean one thing… all the boys reverted back to their caveman selves – “men cook meat on fire”.

Until they got bored and the girls took over!

The night decided into heavy drinking and many many drinking games. A select few of us may have even decided it was a good idea to jump in the pool at midnight but lets not talk about that.
