This year has been a particularly good year for me when I consider the amount of the planet I’ve been able to explore. I managed to squeeze in four holidays this year, lucky me!
I’ve been looking back through my photos and thought I’d share my 2014 travel highlights of the year and my hopes for adventures in 2015.
1) Back in April, I went Roaming in Rome. I had never been to Italy before and was very excited to see so many of the famous landmarks and be able to do all manner of things I would never usually consider and follow it with … “well, when in Rome”. Don’t tell me you wouldn’t!
My favourite things about Rome were listening to the Sunday mass choir singing from the top of Castle De Angelo…
Throwing a coin in the Trevi Fountain…
and, of course, the tiramisu!
2) My second trip overseas was with two of my favourite girlies to Budapest. I fell head over heels in love with the city and will definitely be returning. If you’re considering taking a city break and are undecided on where to go, trust me and go to Budapest!
My Budapest top 3 would be… (tough one!) climbing the basilica and getting this stunner of a view.
And the night of the pool party which, thankfully, there are no photos of!
3) My next trip wasn’t until October when we headed for some later summer sunshine on the south coast of Portugal. This couldn’t have come at a better time, all of us were in great need of a break and having our own villa ten minutes walk from the beach was the sanctuary we all desperately desired.
My first highlight of this holiday is quite simply, our accommodation. I don’t know how we did it but we snagged a real bargain, the villa was stunning and our pool was incredible.
Second I would would have to say Scooby’s the tackily British bar that became our second home due to the free wifi and constant 2-4-1 cocktails.
Third would be the boat trip we did along the coast, it was bloomin’ gorgeous!
4) My last chance to go jet setting this year was an absolute corker. Me and my best pal Sharni headed across the Atlantic to the Big Apple for four jam packed days of sightseeing and shopping.
I’ve been incredibly lucky this year to have been able to travel so much. It has been at the expense of completely not sticking to the budget I had planned out but I figured in my first year of earning a proper wage I wanted to have some fun!
My passion for travel is never going to fade and hopefully I’ll get to see some more new places during 2015. I’m in discussions about potential trips to Ireland, Japan and Scandinavia so watch this space!
Where have you been during 2014 and where do you hope to go in 2015?
