I’m happy to admit that I own more make up than I probably should, in fact I know I do. I like trying out new products and I can’t help myself when I see a bargain. I don’t spend a lot of money on make up I prefer the bargain brands to shelling out for the high end goods. The higher end products I own are individual pieces I’ve researched and saved up for.
So out of this stash of beauty products of course I have a few makeup essentials, my favourites, the products I go to day in day out, the ones that live in my make up bag rather than in my drawer because as soon as I travel anywhere, they travel with me.
I’m not a make up expert by any means but I’ve found a set of products that work for me and if push came to shove and I could only keep a handful of make up, these are the ones that would make the grade.
*WARNING* these products are well used so please excuse the shabbiness of the packaging, its the well loved look!
Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation
Great all round foundation. Its not too heavy and just gives you a fresh and bright coverage. One of the best drug store foundations, I’ve gone through at least 3 bottles and will continue to re purchase.
Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer and Maybelline Dream Lumi Touche Concealers
Yes, two concealers. This may be a little excessive in itself but they do serve different functions I promise! I use the Maybelline Dream Lumi Touche for covering blemishes whereas the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer is perfect for hiding those pesky bags under the eyes. Problem skin.. me? Never…
L’Oreal Super Liner Ultra Precision
I must have bought about 5 of these over the years. I go away from it every now and again but I always come crawling back. Its a liquid eye liner with a soft felt tip – like applicator that is ridiculously easy and quick to use. If you’ve yet to master the art of the winged eye liner the Super Liner is your friend.
Makeup Revolution Redemption Palette Essential Mattes
Revolution, as you may know from my previous review of some of their products is my favourite new range of makeup. I think it has invaded the budget make up arena with great pizazz and is now reigning supreme over the likes of MUA and NYC. I’m not one for using bright colours when it comes to eye shadow and I’m even rather skeptical of shimmer. I’m mattes girls and this palette just does everything I need it to.
Fashionista Eye Brow Kit
I never used to understand the fascination with eyebrows as part of a makeup look until I through this little gem into an old MUA make up haul. The medium brown tone is my perfect match and just helps to gently frame your face and what a bargain! I’m still not a fan of eyebrow pencils but using this eyebrow palette gives me the perfect balance between shaping whilst remaining natural.
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder and Maybelline Bronzing Pressed Powder
The winner for favourite powder can be none other than the Stay Matte Powder from Rimmel, I mean seriously does anyone actually buy any other brands, nothing really competes. I don’t tend to use bronzer all that often but this one I invested in a fair while ago and I’ve recently picked it back up and remembered why I used to like it so much. It blends really nicely and produces really subtle contouring.
Revolution Awesome Lash Mascara
I do not believe in spending a lot of money on mascara. You will be lucky to find me spending more than £3 on a tube and with products as good as this one for this amount of money, why would anyone ever need to? Another win for Revolution and I would urge you all to give it a try.
