Are you looking for an idea of what to do for a Hen Do? Or just fancy doing something a little different and maybe even a little crafty? Look no further than Drink Shop Do! We found them whilst hunting for activity ideas for my sister’s hen do. The combination of an afternoon tea, bottomless Prosecco and crafts hit the nail right on the head.
Their shop/cafe/activity centre is just round the corner from King’s Cross, its the sort of place that slips under the radar. You’d only notice it if you were specifically looking for it.
As we walked down the stairs past the neon “erotica” sign, we wondered if we might have made an error in judgement but once downstairs we were greeted by a retro styled bar with a beautifully decorated area just for us.
We barely had time for a hen do selfie before we were presented with our beautifully presented afternoon tea and peach bellinis. I can confirm it was all damn tasty.
Once we were all sufficiently fed and watered it was time to get seriously crafty. The lovely staff came and cleared our table and replaced cake remains with jars of feathers, buttons and ribbon. We were going to be making fascinators and damn classy ones at that!
We each choose our base colour and then given simple instructions on how to begin and some style pointers. I opted for a light blue base and very quickly got a little carried away with netting and buttons.
Craft is a great ice breaker for a group that don’t really know each other. That’s the inevitable thing with hen dos you’ll have a mixture of ages, and of friends and family. It did not take long however for everyone to be mucking in, yelling “pass the feathers!” and complimenting each other’s handy work.
There was also moments of silent concentration however whilst everyone (a few glasses of prosecco in) tried not to permanently attach themselves to their masterpieces with the needle and thread.
I’m not going to lie, some of the group’s creations were more tasteful than others but it was so fun to see everyone unleash their creative side.
We all departed looking rather more decorative (and awesome) than when we arrived.
Drink Shop Do is an amazing quirky mixture of a great shop full of gift ideas, an opportunity to have some crafty fun and it even turns into a bar in the evenings. Its great for all ages and its particularly great if your trying to find something to do as a big group. We were really well looked after and I’d thoroughly recommend anyone to go and Drink, Shop, Do.
